We believe in providing camp programs which foster social, cultural, physical and emotional development for children of all ages. All YMCA camp activities reflect the core character values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Our camps create an opportunity for children to build self-esteem and friendships while developing a greater independence and life skills. The creative potential of the campers is cultivated in a safe, fun and nurturing environment.
To develop youth of today into the leaders of tomorrow through experiences that nurture social responsibility, healthy lifestyles, and fun.
YMCA camp counselors are carefully selected for their experience, enthusiasm and passion for working with children. Leading by example, our staff challenges campers to accept and demonstrate our core values. Camp staff is comprised of teachers, students, athletes, and full-time YMCA professionals. All staff members are carefully screened through reference and background checks. Child abuse and criminal record checks are conducted on all staff 18 years of age and older. They complete an extensive pre-camp training that includes basic emergency procedures, child abuse prevention and recognition, program planning, age appropriate activities, character development awareness and positive discipline.
Children with special needs are welcome at the YMCA. We do our best to mainstream these children into our existing camp programs. If your child has a full time aide or a one-on-one companion, arrangements must be made prior to the start of camp to accommodate these unique circumstances. Contact the director of your selected camp for further information.
Most of our camps include recreational swim time. Unless a swim lesson is listed in the individual camp description, the camp will not include swim lessons. Swim lessons are available year round; please contact our Welcome Center for information.
February 2, 2013 — Open registration begins.
Registration may be done on-line for full members or in person at the Welcome Center.
Registration packets are available in the Downloads section.
Camp registrations will not be processed unless all of the above items are received completed.
Any changes to your original camp registration must be made in writing on a Camp Cancellation/Addition form.
Forms are available in the Welcome Center or on our camp web site.
Changes will not be accepted over the phone.
All changes excluding additions should be made 30 days prior to the start of the requested camp session to avoid a $50 processing fee.
A YMCA membership is not required to participate in camp; however, tuitions are lower for full privilege members. YMCA members have year-round access to the Y facilities including the pool. To receive the benefits of membership pricing, your full privilege membership must be effective at the time of registration through the last day of camp.
A Youth Camp Membership is available now for the months of June, July and August. The fee of $80.00 per camper must be paid in full and will entitle your camper to the full member rates for camp and other summer programs.
There is a $25 registration fee per camper. This registration fee is non-applicable, non-refundable, and non-transferable.
A $50 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is due at the time of registration for each camp and week for which your child is registered. Deposits are applied to camp balances for each week.
Families with more than one child in camp receive a 5% discount for each child enrolled in the same week of camp. If you register on-line, please contact Jeff.Scott@umly.org to have your discount applied.
Reminder notices are sent before the payment due date to the billing address on file. Please notify the camp office of any address changes.
Tuition is due on the above dates regardless of whether or not you received a bill. A $25.00 late fee is assessed for payments received after the 15th of the month. Camp enrollment is not guaranteed until payment is received in full.
If payment in full is not made two weeks prior to the start of the camp, the camper may be withdrawn from camp and his/her spot forfeited.
Credits and refunds are not issued for vacations or sick days. When you enroll your child, you are reserving space, time and staffing.
YMCA memberships and programs are available to all regardless of race, creed, disability or ability to pay. If you are interested in sending your child to camp, but are experiencing a financial situation that makes payment difficult, you may apply for our financial assistance program. All requests are confidential.
